Finding sleeper picks in fantasy football can elevate any lineup to the next level. Determining which ones to target is based off different factors, including recent performances and weekly matchups being among the most important. Here's which players make the list of the best sleepers to target in Week 3 of the 2024 fantasy football season.

Fantasy Football Sleepers: Week 3

#1 - Carson Steele

With Isiah Pacheco fracturing his fibula in Week 2, he is expected to miss time. This means that rookie Carson Steele is likely to get an opportunity to serve as the Kansas City Chiefs' starting running back. He is an ideal sleeper and massive breakout candidate in Week 3 when factoring in his excellent offensive situation.

#2 - Austin Ekeler

While he is no longer the elite fantasy football running back he once was, Austin Ekeler has still been productive in his first two games this year. His receiving upside keeps him on the fantasy radar as he has already totaled seven receptions for 99 yards. He also increased his carries in Week 2, so his role with the Washington Commanders appears to be growing.

#3 - Demarcus Robinson

The Los Angeles Rams' wide receivers have been plagued by injuries in the early stages of the 2024 fantasy football season. Puka Nacua opened the year on the injured reserve list and Cooper Kupp exited Week 2 early with an injury as well. This means that Demarcus Robinson could be their WR1 in Week 3, giving him plenty of sleeper value.

#4 - Quentin Johnston

The Los Angeles Chargers completely redesigned their offensive weapons during the 2024 NFL offseason, leaving their offense with an unclear target hierarchy. While most favored Ladd McConkey and Josh Palmer for 2024 fantasy football, Quentin Johnston has quietly totaled eight receptions for 89 yards and two touchdowns. He brings sleeper value into Week 3 as their potential WR1.

#5 - Mike Gesicki

Tee Higgins has yet to play during the 2024 season so far and Ja'Marr Chase has been limited. This requires other Cincinnati Bengals players to step up in their offense. Mike Gesicki did exactly that in Week 2 with seven receptions for 97 yards. He also had a touchdown that was overturned in Week 1, so he has quietly been a solid fantasy football tight end so far with his new team.

#6 - Jonnu Smith

The Miami Dolphins are loaded with offensive weapons, which has allowed Jonnu Smith to stay under the radar. He finished as the TE7 in Week 2 and is now up to the TE15 through two games this year. In one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NFL, Smith could be a useful option in many lineups.

#7 - Derek Carr

The New Orleans Saints have scored the most points of any team in the NFL through the first two weeks of the season. Derek Carr is one of the reasons why, as he has already totaled six touchdowns. He has also finished each of the first two weeks ranked among the top six fantasy football quarterbacks and he gets a favorable Week 3 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles' struggling pass defense.

#8 - Geno Smith

Matchups are extremely important when identifying which sleepers to target in fantasy football. The Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins face off in a potential shootout in Week 3, making Geno Smith an interesting sleeper. He has also quietly finished among the top eight quarterbacks in each of the first two weeks of the 2024 season.
