Each new fantasy football season comes with a brand new set of values for players in all positions. Determining an outlook for any player is based on many different factors as their situations with their NFL teams can vary when a new season arrives. Recent individual performances play a role in assessing an outlook, but it's not the only indicator of potential value.

Wide receivers are in the deepest fantasy position as more legitimate options are available for rosters. Deciding which ones to target during a fantasy draft is crucial to overall roster construction. The following seven players are examples of fade candidates at their current ADP for the 2024 fantasy football season.

Sportskeeda's Who Should I Draft tool is extremely useful when comparing fantasy projections between specific players. It can help managers make informed decisions during their drafts and was utilized to produce the following list of wide receiver fades this year.

#1, Cooper Kupp, ADP: 38, 2023 stats

Cooper Kupp will enter the 2024 season with a much lower standing in the fantasy football wide receiver rankings than in previous years. This is due to Puka Nacua surpassing him on the Los Angeles Rams' depth chart.

Kupp still comes in as the WR19 at his current ADP, which is too high after his disappointing campaign last year. He recorded just 59 receptions for 737 yards and five touchdowns, finishing as the WR41.

#2, Keenan Allen, ADP: 68, 2023 stats

Keenan Allen has finished six of the past seven seasons ranked among the top 15 wide receivers in fantasy football. This includes a WR8 finish last year after recording 108 receptions for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns, despite missing four games.

The issue is that he joined the Chicago Bears during the offseason, where he will have to compete with D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze for targets. He can be faded at his current WR30 ADP.

#3, Brandon Aiyuk, ADP: 31, 2023 stats

Brandon Aiyuk is coming off a career-best season, turning in 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. What makes him extremely risky in fantasy drafts right now is his contract situation with the San Francisco 49ers. He will be difficult to trust at his ADP of WR16 with the threat of a potential holdout or being traded to a team where he could be in a worse offensive situation.

#4, Stefon Diggs, ADP: 39, 2023 stats

Stefon Diggs finished as the WR10 in fantasy football last year with 107 receptions for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns, which was his worst finish in four seasons with the Buffalo Bills. He now joins the Houston Texans, where he has a ton more competition for targets, including Nico Collins and Tank Dell. He is no longer an elite fantasy option and can be faded at his current ADP of WR20 in fantasy drafts.

#5, Calvin Ridley, ADP: 77, 2023 stats

Calvin Ridley turned in a strong fantasy football season in his first year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, including 76 receptions for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns. The issue with his ADP is that he switched teams to the Tennessee Titans, where he will have a worse quarterback situation and DeAndre Hopkins to compete for with targets. He can be passed on as the current WR34 in drafts.

#6, DeVonta Smith, ADP: 48, 2023 stats

DeVonta Smith saw some regression last year, finishing as the WR20 after a WR10 finish in the season prior. His 81 receptions and 1,066 yards were also both lower than his output in his previous season. With the Philadelphia Eagles adding Saquon Barkley during the offseason, and Dallas Goedert returning from injury, Smith seems too risky at his WR23 ADP with more target competition.

#7, Jayden Reed, ADP: 78, 2023 stats

Jayden Reed was excellent during his rookie season with the Green Bay Packers. He finished as the WR23 in fantasy football by recording 64 receptions for 793 yards with 10 total touchdowns. His current ADP has him as the WR35 in 2024 fantasy football drafts, but his situation this year makes him a fade.

Christian Watson and Luke Musgrave are expected to return this season, so Reed's workload may significantly reduce.
