The NFL Draft features a number of exceptionally talented players from college football on the verge of making it to the big stage. The annual event oversees more than 200 different players from all across the country getting picked by NFL teams, round by round.

However, football fans are curious to learn how college players can make themselves eligible for the draft. Some have also questioned whether college sophomores can declare themselves up for selection.

To qualify for the draft, a player must be out of high school for at least three years. More so, he must complete his college eligibility before the start of the next football season.

Players in their sophomore year aren't eligible to declare for the draft. This is because sophomores are players who are in their second year of college. They need to complete at least one more year before being able to qualify for the showpiece event.

However, red-shirted sophomores can make themselves suitable to enter the NFL Draft. This is because they have attended college for five years.

Moreover, there is also no minimum age limit to become draft-eligible. Nonetheless, it is no easy task to qualify for the draft as only 200 are selected by NFL teams.
