The 2024 NFL regular season is just around the corner, which means the fantasy football bug is in the air. For some fantasy managers who aren't fully satisfied with their team names, the good news is they can change it before and even during the season.

Here's a look at the steps on how to change your fantasy team name on the ESPN Fantasy App:

  • Step 1: Select “My Team” on the team icon and go to your team homepage section.
  • Step 2: Click on the “Team Info" section.
  • Step 3: Click on “Edit” in the top right corner of the section that allows you to change your location and nickname.
  • Step 4: Edit your team name to your desired choice.
  • Step 5: Click on "Save" after deciding on your team name.

Amid changing your team name, it's important to know that using offensive team names in Public Leagues can lead to unwanted consequences. Furthermore, the location and nickname on your "Team Info" page have a maximum character length of 15. There are no unique team name restraints and you can also edit your team's 4-character abbreviation.

The 2024 NFL regular season will open on Sept. 5, when the Kansas City Chiefs host the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium. This game will be a rematch of last year's AFC championship game.

The league has made it a tradition for the reigning Super Bowl champion to play in the opening game of the following season. Hence, the Chiefs, who beat the San Francisco 49ers in the last Super Bowl, will kickstart the season.

The 18-week NFL regular season will run until Jan. 5, 2025. The playoffs will follow and conclude with the Super Bowl on Feb. 9.

Notably, the Chiefs have now won two consecutive Super Bowls. Patrick Mahomes and Co. will aim to achieve a historic three-peat in the upcoming season.
