Buffalo suffered a 31-26 defeat against the Panthers in its final preseason game.

It was the first preseason victory for Carolina. Meanwhile, Buffalo fell to its second loss as each team finished the exhibition calendar with 1-2 records.

The Panthers will open their regular season with a trip to New Orleans, while the Bills host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.

The Panthers fielded most of their starters for the preseason finale. Quarterbacks Bryce Young and Jake Plummer took snaps for the visitors. Meanwhile, Ben DiNucci and Anthony Brown split time as signal-callers for the Bills.

Young started for the Panthers and completed six of eight passes for 70 yards, including an eight-yard touchdown to Jordan Matthews. He was replaced by Plummer, who finished with 278 yards on 27 passes and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Bills opened with DiNucci, who completed 11 of 15 passes for a touchdown. Brown replaced him and completed 11 of 12 passes for 102 yards.

The Panthers' offense looked sharp from the get-go. Meanwhile, the Bills' defense was shaky throughout the contest. Carolina took a 17-11 lead into halftime and fended off a late charge from the Bills during the final period.

The Bills scored their first touchdown this preseason when DiNucci hit running back Darrynton Evans with an 18-yard pass in the second quarter. It was also the first time Buffalo took a lead in the game, but it was short-lived.

In the fourth quarter, Bills signal-caller Anthony Brown weaved together a 67-yard drive that ended with KJ Hamler scoring on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

For Carolina, the highlight was Young's first-quarter cameo. Last year's top draft pick posted 85 yards in 12 plays to help the Panthers take an early 7-0 lead.
