Austin Ekeler has been ruled out of Week 4 due to a concussion and a cut on his ear. The running back won't play against the Cardinals and fantasy managers should steer clear of picking him for the game.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn addressed Ekeler's status on Wednesday and said the player traveled to Virginia for treatment.

"So, Austin had a concussion and also a laceration on his ear,” Quinn said. "He went back to Virginia today to begin the concussion protocol. I’ll have more info as we get towards the end of the week.”

Ekeler suffered a concussion in the third quarter of the Commanders' 38-33 Week 3 win against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday. He exited the game after making two catches for 22 yards and three carries for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Ekeler joined the Commanders this offseason and has enjoyed a fairly strong start to his career in Washington.

In three games, Ekeler has rushed for 83 yards on 13 carries with one touchdown. He has also recorded 121 yards on nine receptions, tallying 35.4 fantasy points in total.

However, Ekeler will not have the opportunity to build on those numbers in Week 4. It's also unclear when he will return to action.
