Aaron Jones, who exited Sunday's Minnesota Vikings 23-17 victory over the New York Jets in London during the first half, is suffering from a right hip injury. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the veteran running back will still have an MRI.

"Aaron Jones is going to have an MRI on Monday just to see what damage it did on that hip. This doesn’t seem like a major injury on its face, though," Rapoport said. "There is a real chance, depending on the results of the MRI, that Aaron Jones could be back after the bye."

After Week 6 bye, the expectation is that Jones will return.

Following Sunday's London encounter, coach O'Connell said he didn't think Jones' injury would have any long-term effects.

O'Connell said after the game:

"He will be evaluated. I will keep you guys posted from the standpoint of what that looks like, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that hopefully will be short-term.”

The Vikings have their bye week in Week 6, which is also good for Jones' prospects, as he will have an additional week to rest and recuperate.

The Vikings have won five straight games to start the season. They won't return to NFL action until Week 7, when they are scheduled to host the reigning NFC North champions, the Detroit Lions, on Oct. 20.

Aaron Jones injury update: What happened to the Vikings' RB?

It's difficult to say for sure when Aaron Jones hurt his hip against the New York Jets on Sunday. At no time during the game did he go down on the field from an injury.

NFL Network sideline reporter Stacey Dales reported in the second quarter of the game that the former Green Bay Packers RB was questionable to return.

Jones was ruled out of the game by the Vikings just before the second half was about to begin. Before leaving the game, he had seven rushes for 29 yards and one outstanding catch for a 24-yard gain.

Following Jones' exit from the game, Minnesota turned to Ty Chandler, who was heavily involved but was hardly efficient. The 26-year-old back gained just 30 yards on 14 carries in the game.

Though early reports indicate that Jones is unlikely to miss any games, Vikings fans and fantasy managers may have to wait till later in the week to know more about his fitness.
