In the NFL, athleticism is key, especially for wide receivers. At a certain point, that athleticism starts to wane. The older these players get, the less explosive they are. It becomes harder for them to break coverage and get open. It gets harder for them to record yards after a catch.

Nevertheless, these aging wide receivers should not concern you when you begin drafting for 2024.

5) Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr. is old and has a history of knee injuries. However, he showed in 2023 that he still has some left in the tank.

This year, he joins the Miami Dolphins. He may be WR3 instead of WR2, but since the passing offense is stronger, there's more volume. Mike McDaniel will have him thriving, so don't worry about the red flags.

4) Davante Adams

Davante Adams is getting old at 31, and the Las Vegas Raiders passing game is probably not going to be good. Neither Aidan O'Connell nor Gardner Minshew inspire a lot of hope, but neither that nor the age of Adams is worrisome.

He's still an elite wide receiver, and he should not be overlooked in fantasy drafts by getting too technical.

3) Adam Thielen

Adam Thielen won't be the default number-one wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers anymore with Diontae Johnson in town. However, Johnson is more of a deep threat and Thielen, who thrived in the short game last year, will still dominate that area of the field.

The passing offense as a whole should be much better and Thielen will still have a ton of catches. He'll be excellent in PPR leagues again this year.

2) Tyler Lockett

Tyler Lockett is likely sliding down the depth chart in Seattle. The Seahawks star is getting older, and he's likely to be supplanted by Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Nevertheless, he is as reliable as they come and will still see plenty of volume from Geno Smith.

1) Mike Evans

At some point, the 30-year-old Mike Evans is going to go downhill. He's going to start declining physically and one day he won't record 1,000 yards in a season (he may retire by then, though). That day is not today and it's not coming in 2024.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver remains the top target in a good passing offense, so don't let his age scare you. He'll once again be one of the best in the NFL.
