Bounce-back QBs in 2024 fantasy football

Quarterbacks are often the highest-scoring players during each fantasy football season. Managers may use different strategies to approach the position during their fantasy drafts. Some will select the elite options in the earlier rounds, while others may wait until later on to find valuable options with desirable upside.

For managers who choose to wait a bit on their quarterbacks, several factors can contribute to analyzing the best targets. It can be extremely beneficial to find players with a strong history of success, but a disappointing outcome in their most recent season shouldn't always be a red flag. Here are three quarterbacks who qualify as potential bounce back candidates for the 2024 fantasy football season.

#1 - Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray began his NFL career with three consecutive finishes among the top 10 quarterbacks in fantasy football. Injuries have slowed him down in the past two seasons, missing a total of 15 games for the Arizona Cardinals. He returned for the final eight games of last season, and quietly ranked as QB9 in fantasy points per game.

Rushing upside is what makes Murray an attractive option, as mobile quarterbacks have a strong history of success in fantasy football. He has recorded more than 400 rushing yards in all four of his seasons that he has played in at least 10 games. He also has a new weapon to throw the ball to this season in Marvin Harrison Jr., further improving his upside this season.

#2 - Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence entered the NFL as one of the highest-rated quarterback prospects of all time, but has failed to live up to the hype in two of his three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars so far. The franchise still rewarded him with the largest contract by AAV, tied with Joe Burrow, in NFL history, so they obviously believe in his long-term outlook.

Despite his relative struggles, Lawrence still finished as the QB13 in fantasy football last season, which is just outside of the range of being a starter. His career-best season was a QB8 finish in the year before, so he has proven his upside. If he can take a sep forward this year and live up to his massive contract, he could be a steal in fantasy drafts.

#3 - Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones broke out in a big way two years ago during his first season with Brian Daboll as the head coach of the New York Giants. He finished as the QB9 in fantasy football, while setting career-highs in passing yards and rushing yards. His follow-up campaign last year was cut short to six games due to a season-ending injury.

Jones comes with more risk than many other quarterbacks, due to his QB9 finish being the only time in his career that he finished inside of the top 20 quarerbacks. He is still worth a shot in the later rounds after demonstrating his rushing upside and potential to be effective in his offensive system. The Giants also added promising wide receiver Malik Nabers, which could help Jones' outlook.
