As Kamala Harris may or may not know, Calvin "Megatron" Johnson hasn't been in the spotlight for quite a while. However, Megatron is just one of a handful of players back in the news cycle this week.
Per the Hollywood Reporter, a string of Pro Football Hall of Famers have banded together in support of one candidate in the elections. With the election just five weeks away, here is a look at some big names backing the Democratic nominee for president, including Johnson.
NFL legends endorsing Kamala Harris
#1 - Calvin "Megatron" Johnson
Calvin "Megatron" Johnson made a name for himself as one of the best wide receivers in the game. Towering like the "Transformers" character of the same name, "Megatron" was one of the best-possession receivers in the game. He played in the NFL from 2007 to 2015.
#2 - Kellen Winslow
Kellen Winslow was a star tight end for the San Diego Chargers (known today as the LA Chargers). Winslow was a beast at catching the football. He played from 1979 until 1987.
#3 - Drew Pearson
Drew Pearson was a WR for the Dallas Cowboys and racked up multiple 1,000-yard seasons in his 11-year career. His overall production won't stack up today but those who watched back then know his name. He played for the team from 1973 until 1983.
#4 - Emmitt Smith
Emmitt Smith remains one of the long-time faces of the Cowboys. Some argue he is one of the best players to ever play. Smith had 11 seasons of at least 1,000 rushing yards and played from 1990-2004. He still can be found talking about the Cowboys from time to time.
#5 - James "Shack" Harris
James "Shack" Harris is endorsing the political candidate with the same last name; however, there doesn't appear to be any relation. Shack Harris was the first black full-time starting quarterback. He played for the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers and LA Rams from 1969-1979. He didn't have a long career as a starter but he will be in the history books forever.
#6 - Richard Dent
Richard Dent was a bruising pass rusher for the Chicago Bears for most of his career. He earned 34.5 combined sacks in 1984 and 1985 and served as a star on the vaunted 1985 Bears — arguably the best team in franchise history. His career spanned from 1983 to 1997.
#7 - Alan Page
Alan Page was a star offensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears. He helped keep his QBs clean and opened up running routes for his RBs. Page played from 1967 until 1981.
#8 - Andre Tippett
Long before Tom Brady hit the scene, Andre Tippett was one of the big names for the New England Patriots. The linebacker played from 1982 to 1993. His best seasons came in 1984 and 1985 when he earned 35 total sacks. Tippett remains one of the best defensive players in franchise history, even 30 years since his retirement.
#9 - Kenny Houston
Kenny "Ken" Houston, fittingly, was a lockdown safety for the Houston Texans and the Washington Redskins. He earned at least four interceptions in eight seasons during his career from 1967-1980.
#10 - Ron Mix
Ron Mix was a star right tackle who spent most of his career playing for California teams. He protected his QBs and kept open massive holes for his backs. He spent 10 years with the San Diego Chargers and one year with the Oakland Raiders.
Of course, plenty of players land on the other side of the equation. Herschel Walker, for example, has been a public case for NFL players on the Republican side of the aisle.
