The 2024 All-Star Race is done and dusted. The much-awaited second exhibition race of the season started on Sunday at 8 pm ET and lasted for an hour, 19 minutes and 57 seconds at the North Wilkesboro Speedway, with 20 entries.
Ty Gibbs and Bubba Wallace advanced to the All-Star Race after finishing P1 and P2, respectively, while Noah Gragson entered through the fan vote.
Sunday’s (May 19), exhibition event saw two lead changes among two drivers and four caution flags.
Who won the NASCAR race today?
Joey Logano, driving the #22 Ford Mustang for Team Penske, put in a dominating performance to win the prestigious All-Star Race. Logano earned $1 million for his victory in the annual non-points events of the season.
Logano, who started on pole, led 199 laps out of the scheduled 200 and crossed the finish line 0.636 seconds ahead of Denny Hamlin to take the checkered flag.
Logano lost the lead on Lap 104 against Brad Keselowski, but one lap later the #22 Penske driver regained it and held off the rest of the field to cross the finish line in P1.
Logano’s dominant performance set the new record for leading most laps in an All-Star exhibition event. The win marked Logano’s second All-Star win of his career and first at North Wilkesboro.
Meanwhile, Hamlin finished runner-up, followed by Chris Buescher, last year’s All-Star Race winner Kyle Larson and defending NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney in the top-five.
Bubba Wallace, Ross Chastain, Chase Elliott, Michael McDowell and Kyle Busch completed the top-10 in the All-Star event.
