After Austin Dillon clinched the Cook Out 400 win, Ty Gibbs was curious about the "super fast" speed produced by the former's #3 Chevy. Amid the recent scandal involving Joe Gibbs Racing, the #54 Toyota driver's comment on the Richard Childress Racing driver's Richmond performance has gained traction.

Jenna Fryer of the Associated Press revealed an ongoing controversy under NASCAR's nose. Despite the officials knowing about proprietary rights transfer to a non-playoff Cup Series team, their hands are tied until someone complains.

After gathering data from six team executives, it was observed that Joe Gibbs Racing's engineer has allegedly shared intellectual properties with another team for cash. However, JGR has declined to comment. But amid the controversial environment, Gibbs' take on Dillon's newfound speed at Richmond raises question marks.

Notably, neither of the RCR drivers- Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon qualified for the playoffs, which makes the team a probable benefactor of JGR's IP data. Moreover, during the regular season Richmond race, where Dillon reigned supreme, his #3 Chevy churned wild amounts of speed while his teammate and two-time Cup Series champion, who was running on a different setup, struggled with pace during the entirety of the 408-lap run, and finished 12th.

After Dillon clinched his maiden victory this season, Ty Gibbs questioned the insane thrust RCR's #3 NextGen machine had. Speaking to Bob Pockrass, the #54 Toyota driver said.

"Definitely question where they got all that speed from as well, right? They haven’t been running good at all, now all of a sudden they are super fast. So, definitely curious on that,” Gibbs said (0:33).

While the RCR driver was allowed to keep the win, he was stripped from the playoffs for crashing out the two drivers to clear his path to victory.

"Definitely nice": Ty Gibbs expressed contentment with NASCAR's decision to remove Austin Dillon from the playoffs

Not only was the sophomore Cup Series driver curious about Dillon's blistering fast pace at Richmond, but he agreed with NASCAR's decision to strip the RCR driver's playoff spot. Either Denny Hamlin or Joey Logano would've secured the race win. However, as Dillon gunned towards the checkered flag, he removed the obstacles by crashing them out.

Furthermore, after Dillon wrecked the Team Penske driver, his spotter Brandon Benesch yelled "wreck him," ordering the #3 driver to take out JGR's Hamlin. And that's what Dillon did. As a result, RCR and their driver were each docked 25 points, while Benesch was suspended for three races.

During the conversation with Bob Pockrass, Ty Gibbs opined on NASCAR's ruling and said:

“Definitely glad that they took that away but outside of that they’re making the calls. I just, we were just back there so I really wasn’t too much focused on what happened until later in the week, hearing the news, but yeah, definitely nice it frees up a spot,” Ty Gibbs said.

NASCAR upheld Dillon's penalty but reduced the spotter's suspension to one race after RCR appealed the verdict.
