Joey Logano has lashed out at Austin Dillon for the final lap wreck at the Richmond Raceway. The Team Penske driver was inching to his second Cup Series win this season but the Richard Childress Racing driver didn't let that materialize and snatched the feat instead.

Logano kicked off his 23rd Cup Series race from ninth place but brought his #22 Ford into the top-5 as the first stage wrapped up. He maintained his track position and came fourth in the second stage as well. But as the overtime restart was green-flagged, with Dillon on the inside, the Team Penske driver took the lead and began the final lap as the leader.

However, at the final turn before the start/finish line, the RCR driver's #3 Chevy first rammed into Logano's #22 Ford and then Denny Hamlin's #11 Toyota. While the latter survived the wreck, finishing second, the former couldn't and succumbed to a 19th-place finish.

"Chickenshit, there's no doubt about it. He's 4 car lengths back. Then he wrecked the 11. And then he goes up there and thanks God with his baby. It's a bunch of BS.. It's ridiculous that that's the way we race. I get bump and run, I do that .. what a piece of crap," Logano expressed his rage via PRN Live on X.

So far, no penalty has been announced for Dillon's move over Joey Logano and he's the official winner of the Cook Out 400.

"I hate to do that but sometimes you just got to have it"- Austin Dillon on his controversial win that destroyed Joey Logano's prospects

Austin Dillon's footing into the current season was poor. Moreover, unlike his triumphant run at the Richmond Raceway, his previous outing on the 0.750-mile oval suffered from "dumbass strategy."

With no wins and three top-10s until the 408-lap dash, Dillon's odds of making the 2024 playoffs were slim and only a victory could help him clinch the playoff berth.

Furthermore, the playoff ticket slipped from his grasp when Joey Logano took the lead before entering the final lap. However, he charged behind the Team Penske driver, wrecked him out, and then contacted Denny Hamlin before marking his first win since the 2022 Coke Zero Sugar 400 at the Daytona International Speedway.

When asked whether his move against the #22 Ford driver was fair, Dillon replied (via NASCAR).

"I don't know man, it's been two years [since he won a race], and it's the first car I've had with a shot to win. I felt like with two [laps] to go, we were the fastest car obviously at the straightway and wrecked the guy. I hate to do that but sometimes you just got to have it."

While Joey Logano succumbed to a 19th-place finish, Dillion has punched his ticket to the playoffs, and the latter's teammate, Kyle Busch, still lingers below the cutline.
