The new 'Turtle Curbs' on the reconfigured Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway received criticism from Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. In response, NASCAR has quickly replaced the curbs with much gentler humps on the frontstretch chicane.

In order to create more excitement for the upcoming Bank of America ROVAL 400 race weekend, NASCAR made minor changes to the racetrack. This included adding the new-age Turtle Curbs on the final chicane ahead of the frontstretch.

Being 4 inches high, these curbs were criticized by several drivers due to the heavy impact they felt while riding them at high speeds. Truex Jr. expressed his annoyance to senior NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass during a recent media interaction in Charlotte.

“Feels like you get a concussion every lap basically if you hit them. So, yeah. Not much fun,” Truex Jr. explained (0:21 onwards).

Even Busch complained about the impact of the curbs to journalist Noah Lewis.

“It’s not overblowing it. It’s 1000% correct. I don’t know when I’ll see the data, probably not until Monday but it fuc… my head hurts,” Busch commented, via Noah Lewis.

To tackle the situation, NASCAR quickly replaced the 4-inch Turtle Curbs with much smaller 2.5-inch humps on the aforementioned chicane. Pockrass posted about the change on X.

Here's a look at the post, captioned:

"NASCAR has replaced the turtles in the frontstretch chicane with 2.5-inch humps (turtles were 4 inches high). Crew chiefs and some drivers looking at the change this morning. Drivers obviously were complaining about the impacts yesterday."

Although this happens to be the last race at Charlotte Roval for Truex Jr., he decided to voice his opinion to make the race better for everyone.

“Vehicles must run the full course at all times" - NASCAR issues a reminder about track limits ahead of the ROVAL 400 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Ahead of the ROVAL 400 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, NASCAR issued a reminder about track limits to all drivers. The sanctioning body explained that drivers will be judged as shortcutting any turn when all four tires are on the non-track side of the red-and-white rumble strips.

“Vehicles must run the full course at all times. Going straight at the chicane(s) may result in a stop-and-go penalty in an assigned location for the violation," NASCAR wrote in the reminder.

This move by NASCAR is likely done to promote fair racing during the ROVAL 400 race. The sanctioning body also made changes to the track to make sure drivers are not compromised or hurt while racing hard on the final chicane before the frontstretch.
