NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race

North Wilkesboro Speedway saw a dominant run by Joey Logano who earned $1 million for his victory at the much-awaited All-Star Race on Sunday, May 19. The prestigious annual race didn't match any of the thrill expected by NASCAR fans except for one post-race incident that caught attention.

The 2024 non-points event was held at North Wilkesboro for the second consecutive season. The #22 Joey Logano maintained his dominance throughout the race by leading 199 out of 200 laps at the 0.625-mile oval. However, the highlight of the All-Star event was not the main race but a physical altercation in the garages post-race. Ricky Stenhouse Jr confronted Kyle Busch at his hauler where the RCR driver was at the receiving end of a punch thrown by Stenhouse Jr.

The NASCAR community was quick to pass their judgments post-race on X(formerly Twitter) and criticized a few other points regarding the All-Star race such as the new option tires format which was introduced at the All-Star weekend, and the reduced horsepower in the Next-Gen cars.

"Well tire options didn't make that All Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway any less boring. #NASCAR... This #NextGen car makes short track racing so boooring ... #Horsepower #HP #AllStarRace," one user wrote.

While a fan suggested moving the annual race back to the other short tracks.

"Back to back most boring All Star races in NASCAR history. Move this race back to Charlotte or give the cars more horsepower. The option tires are not going to work unless they have more horsepower to actually wear the tire out," a fan said.

Many fans of the sport were satisfied with the post-race fight between the drivers in their garages.

"All Star race very boring but the after the race fight was exciting and full of drama #nascar," an user wrote.

Another user on X added:

"Most Boring All-Star Race Since 2022 Texas."
"Sad that nobody could pass! A very boring all star race! Nascar is turning into F1!" a fan compared the sport.

A motorsports fan commented by saying:

"I don’t watch much #NASCAR racing but I tuned in to the All-Star Race to follow the continuation of the #KyleLarson story. Boring race but a decent fight afterward. I’m always down for watching a Busch brother get smacked. lol."

Busch-Stenhouse Jr's feud at the 2024 All-Star race

An early on-track incident turned into a brawl when Ricky Stenhouse Jr confronted Kyle Busch post-race.

The incident that led to this altercation took place on the second lap at the North Wilkesboro Speedway when JTG Daugherty Racing driver Stenhouse Jr made a three-wide pass along with #11 Denny Hamlin and #8 Kyle Busch. The RCR driver Busch then nudged #47 Ricky Stenhouse Jr in the rear bumper leading the #47 out of contention in the early stages of the race.

The JTG Daugherty driver waited for the race to be over to call our Busch and this heated moment made Stenhouse Jr land a punch on the two-time Cup Series Champion.

#8 Kyle Busch managed to secure a P10 at the main race while #47 Ricky Stenhouse Jr with the last spot.

NASCAR is currently heading towards the 14th race of the season at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600 this weekend on May 26.
