Joey Logano, who has an average finish of 9.7 at Richmond Raceway, recently shared a few insights into his success on the track. The #22 Team Penske driver credits the RFK Racing owner Brad Keselowski for his guidance around the circuit.

Logano has been a part of NASCAR for 17 years and secured two Cup championships in 2018 and 2022. He has won 33 of his 564 races and finished in the top 10 281 times. However, the last two seasons haven't been his best.

In 2023, Logano won a race in Atlanta early in the season and made it into the playoffs. But after that, the #22 driver didn’t win another points race until the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway this year.

Now, with just four races left before the playoffs commence, Richmond Raceway is up next. Given Logano's strong track record there, expectations are high for the Penske driver. Recently, when asked why Richmond ranks as one of his top tracks, he said (via Fox Sports):

"There's a few things that kind of go into that. Honestly, I learned a lot from Brad [Keselowski] when he was my teammate on how to get around that place. I was able to use that for quite a few years."

However, Joey Logano doesn't attribute his success at Richmond Raceway only to Brad Keselowski. He also talked about the role of his crew chief, Paul Wolfe, in preparing a competitive car for the track's challenging conditions.

"I think [crew chief] Paul [Wolfe] puts together a really good car on tracks that have more wore-out surfaces [and] tires wear out quickly. That helps. I think we kind of understand that place pretty well. We've consistently had top-five cars there. I haven't won there as much as we wanted to, but we've been in the hunt every time," Joey Logano added.

After capturing the checkered flag at Nashville and breaking a 49-race winless streak, Logano has secured his spot in the 2024 NASCAR playoffs.

Asked about how the Nashville win shifted his season's outlook, Joey Logano said (via Fox Sports):

"I don't know that it changed the complexion of the season a whole bunch. We are in, which is great. The goal is not just to make the playoffs. The goal is to win the championship all the time. So, that's one step of the stepping stones there."

Logano also expressed his desire to maintain his performance and capitalize on opportunities, similar to how Ryan Blaney did last year, adding:

"We've just got to stay around long enough to take advantage of speed like the #12 did last year."

With four races left to further cement his position in the playoff standings, it'll be interesting to see if Logano can once again display the form that defined the Team Penske driver's 2022 season.
