Freddie Kraft has taken a hilarious jibe at Brett Griffin, who will be working with Austin Dillon as his spotter for the next NASCAR race. The latter's usual spotter, Brandon Benesch has been suspended for three races after the controversial finish at Richmond Raceway.

Last week, Dillon brought in his first Cup Series win of the season in Richmond. However, the win came after he wrecked both Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin on the final lap. Amidst the controversy of the finish, the conversation between him and his spotter was revealed, during which Benesch asked Dillon to "wreck him" (Logano).

The officials took a decision on the matter earlier this week and suspended Benesch for the next three races. Moreover, they also revoked Austin Dillon's NASCAR playoffs spot. They have allowed him to keep the win, but he won't be getting into the playoffs with his current season stats.

Brett Griffin, who has more than two decades of experience in racing, was announced as Dillon's spotter for the next race. Coincidentally, he also appeared on the latest episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, where he seemed to be defending the driver's actions. Reacting to this news, Freddie Kraft, Bubba Wallace's spotter wrote on X:

"Now I know why he kept saying Austin did nothing wrong on DBC this week. 😂"

Austin Dillon on his spotter's controversial advice: "The emotions were really high"

Prior to the decision from NASCAR, Austin Dillon spoke about the situation that was created within his garage during the final moments of the race. He stated that the crew's emotions were really high heading into the final lap. Amidst the excitement, his spotter was saying "what came to his mind."

"I'm expecting something obviously. I think as far as my spotter, I talked to him and I truly think you know for all of us the emotions were really high in our situation for the #3 car. We've been beat up, banged up for a while now," the RCR driver said [04:56].
"From my spotter, I feel like he became a fan in the stands on the last lap of Austin Dillon and RCR. He was just saying what came to his mind in the moment and it was wrong and I'm sure there's going to be something from that," he added.

Joey Logano, who was originally in contention to win the race, finished P19 after the wreck. Taking out his anger on the pit road, he drove past people, revving and smoking his tires in front of the #3 garage.

NASCAR also fined Logano $50,000 for violation of the Member Code of Conduct.
