23XI Racing co-owner Denny Hamlin not only has to worry about the upcoming 2024 playoff races, but also the legal battle between his team and NASCAR. The 43-year-old shared insight into his team's plan to acquire a charter from Stewart-Haas Racing and the uncertainty that comes with it.

NASCAR made an opposing response to the two teams' preliminary injunction to retain their charters for the 2025 season. Moreover, the plans for extending its two-car charter team have been in limbo for the Michel Jordan-owed 23XI.

Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass, via the $65 million worth Hamlin (according to Celebrity Net Worth), revealed that 23XI hasn't had any discussions with NASCAR on account of receiving the SHR charter. Pockrass wrote on X:

"Denny Hamlin said he has not had discussions with NASCAR about the approval of an SHR charter transfer to 23XI (23XI has an agreement to buy one) after this season and doesn't know of any deadline for a decision on it."

The renowned reporter had previously confirmed that NASCAR would have to approve the charter transfer from the soon-to-be-defunct SHR to 23XI Racing and Bob Jenkins-owned FRM. Pockrass was responding to a query from a fan on X.

"SHR currently signed for 4 charters. Trackhouse to get one. 23XI & FRM have agreements to purchase one apiece. Transfer requires NASCAR approval. Whether approval is granted TBD so status of those TBD. 36 or 32 or 30 charters on-track TBD (all pending court decision)," he wrote.

As things stand, the court hearing is scheduled for November 4 at the U.S. District Court in Charlotte, North Carolina. The court's decision would set the course for the lawsuit battle and the two Cup Series teams for the upcoming season.

"We got to win now": Denny Hamlin's mentality for the Round of 8 amid ongoing lawsuit

The three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin is on the run for his maiden championship title. Despite having an impressive 54 Cup wins, the #11 JGR driver hasn't carved his name on the Cup Series championship title.

On a recent episode of his Actions Detrimental podcast, the Florida native Hamlin spoke about his state of mind as he enters the first Round of 8 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He said:

"You got the best eight. It's going to be tough. It is going to be tough because all these teams, they're all threats to win any one of these three races. And they're all threats to run one through eight, all three races, heavyweight battle," Denny Hamlin said.
"My mentality does focus into, okay, we got to go win now. Like we, you know, there's still an element in the round of 12 where it just don't beat yourself. That's for the end of time. That's the way it's been in the round of 12, round of 16, literally don't be a buffoon and you'll make it. But then in the round of 8, you typically need to win or run top five pretty much in all of them," Denny Hamlin said.

Before the South Point 400 race at Las Vegas, the veteran driver was ranked P6 and eight points below the playoff cut-line.
