Here are your day's top combat sports updates, presented by Sportskeeda MMA's News Roundup.

Mayra Bueno Silva fined for UFC 303 act

On Thursday, NAC announced Mayra Bueno Silva's fine for breaking a rule at UFC 303. After losing to Macy Chiasson because of a cut over her right eye that deemed her unfit to continue, Silva angrily jumped over the cage to speak with Dana White, who was seated cage-side.

As jumping over the cage is forbidden, it led to $2,500 of Silva's $100,000 fight purse for UFC 303 being withheld by the Nevada Athletic Commission. During a meeting on Thursday, the commission decided that the withheld amount would suffice as a fine and the matter can be considered settled without any further punishment.

However, Silva still had to pay around $157 to cover the legal fees.

Carla Esparza explains MMA retirement

Carla Esparza recently announced that the UFC 307 fight against Tecia Pennington will be her last MMA fight. However, it is not a decision she made on a whim.

Speaking with Damon Martin of MMA Fighting, 'Cookie Monster' shared that she knew she would retire from the sport soon even before her last UFC fight against Zhang Weili. Things fell into perspective for the former strawweight champion after the birth of her son and she decided not to put her body through what it takes to be an UFC fighter.

She said:

"I knew that potentially my last fight could have been my last fight ever. I really wanted to come back, but there’s a lot of stuff that happens with women’s bodies and pregnancy and labor, and people can have traumatic experiences to their bodies."

She added:

"We’ve seen it time and time again, the sport kind of forces you out. You have devastating loss after devastating loss, and honestly, I’ve seen a lot of my heroes fighting over the years and it’s hard to watch that. I never wanted to be that to my fans... I don’t want to half-ass this sport."
