Jon Jones recently unveiled a body transformation photo, just over a month before his anticipated return to the octagon, but it has drawn the wrong kind of attention from fans.

'Bones' is slated to defend his undisputed heavyweight title against former champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 on Nov. 16 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Jones recently took to Instagram Stories to share an image showcasing his leaner physique, complete with defined abs. However, after seemingly receiving some harsh comments from fans, he decided to address the backlash on X.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion emphasized that he was previously deemed overweight, and now, after getting into shape, he is facing accusations of steroid use:

"They were just calling me fat; now I’m on steroids. I love it."

The 37-year-old shared the same image of his chiseled body, juxtaposed with a photo from a time when he appeared out of shape, and captioned it:

"I’ve been secretly taking PHW."

'Bones' was scheduled to face Miocic at UFC 295 last November, but he sustained a serious pectoral injury just weeks before the fight. He hasn't competed since his first-round submission victory over Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 in March 2023.

How many times has Jon Jones been banned for positive drug tests?

Jon Jones is widely regarded as the greatest MMA fighter in the world. But, his legacy is tarnished by a polarizing past that includes several bans for failing drug tests.

The first blemish on Jones' career emerged after his victory over Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 in 2015. The Nevada State Athletic Commission disclosed that 'Bones' had failed a pre-fight drug test for benzoylecgonine, the main metabolite of cocaine. However, he did not receive a ban, as WADA does not prohibit cocaine use outside of competition.

Following that, Jones was pulled from his UFC 200 rematch with 'DC' in 2016 after failing a pre-fight drug test for two banned substances: clomiphene and letrozole. Both agents are known to boost testosterone levels and suppress estrogen production in men. He received a one-year suspension as a consequence.

Upon returning from his suspension, 'Bones' again triumphed over Cormier at UFC 214 in 2017. However, only three weeks after his victory, he tested positive for the anabolic steroid turinabol. If found guilty, he could have faced a suspension of up to four years, but with the assistance of USADA, Jones managed to avoid severe penalties.
