"Why does he butcher everyone's name lol?" - Fans in splits as Chael Sonnen hilariously mispronounces Alex Pereira's 'Chama'

UFC Hall of Famer Chael Sonnen recently reacted to Alex Pereira's callout of Dricus Du Plessis after the South African's victorious performance at UFC 305. Some fans, however, are more interested in how the former fighter pronounces names than the reaction itself.

Sonnen has earned a reputation for putting forward his perspective with wisecracking wit on his YouTube channel, which has 1.29 million subscribers at the time of writing.

The middleweight title challenger regularly posts his reaction to a myriad of topics related to combat sports, and he recently made a video about Pereira calling out Du Plessis.

Interestingly, it's not the reaction that got the fans' attention, as 'The American Gangster's' habit of getting names wrong, intentional or otherwise, came to the fore:

"Pierra [Pereira] has shockingly called out Du Plessis and Du Plessis has accepted at 205 [pounds]. For a guy who’s very quiet and very stoic, once he says one word, what’s that – chomo [Chama], he sure finds a way to insert himself into things that are none of his business."

Not only did the UFC vet get the double champ's name wrong, but he also butchered 'Poatan's' favorite, and seemingly one of the easiest, words to utter: CHAMA!

Fans were not in the mood to sweep the numerous mispronunciations under the rug, as they took to the comments to blast the analyst:

For someone who works on multiple projects for the likes of ESPN, it's fascinating how often Chael Sonnen gets fighters' names wrong. Almost all foreign athletes, and even some Americans, have been the victims of the Hall of Famer's infamous fumbles.
