Fans reacted to Chris Weidman's latest opponent being revealed.

In March, Weidman defeated Bruno Silva at UFC Atlantic City by a controversial unanimous decision (technical) for his first win since August 2020. At 40 years old, the former UFC middleweight champion isn't ready to hang up the gloves, as he's preparing for his twentieth walk to the Octagon.

On Nov. 16, Weidman looks to secure his second consecutive win when he faces Eryk Anders at UFC 309. Once the matchup was announced, fans took to X and reacted to the middleweight bout.

The fans wrote:

"I don't hate it."
"Anders by ko"
"Weidman about to be on a 2 fight winning streak"

Heading into UFC 309, Anders is coming off a unanimous decision win against Jamie Pickett. The 37-year-old has been a mainstay in the middleweight division since his promotional debut in July 2017. 'Ya Boi' now looks to add a former champion to his resume for arguably the best win of his fighting career.

Meanwhile, Weidman needs more than a win at UFC 309 to silence the doubters. Since suffering a career-altering leg injury, many fans and analysts believe 'The All-American' is nowhere near the fighter he once was. It'll be intriguing to see if Weidman can turn the tides with a finish against Anders.

Why did fans make eye-poke references while discussing Chris Weidman's fight announcement?

At UFC Atlantic City, Chris Weidman endured a special moment in his fighting career, as he secured his first win since his horrifying leg injury against Uriah Hall. Unfortunately, a majority of MMA fans weren't willing to give Weidman his flowers due to the controversial outcome of the fight.

Heading into round three, Weidman was dominating on the judges' scorecards, with all three giving him rounds one and two. The biggest story of the fight was the former middleweight king keeping his fingers pointed out, leading to a brutal eye poke in the final frame.

Silva was unable to continue and the bout was stopped before the final bell. Due to the rules and regulations, the middleweight bout was scored a technical unanimous decision for Weidman, which led to backlash from the MMA community.
