Sean O'Malley recently took to Instagram with a helping of self-praise and trash talk. He claimed to be undefeated in rematches and pink shorts, which he has only worn once, while also aiming colorful vitriol the way of Merab Dvalishvili, the reigning UFC bantamweight champion.

For context, Dvalishvili dethroned O'Malley as the division's champion at Noche UFC 306. The Georgian star authored a dominant performance that saw him outpace and outwrestle O'Malley with alarming ease, as 'Sugar' struggled greatly to stop Dvalishvili's takedowns.

While O'Malley is indeed unbeaten in rematches, he has only ever taken part in one rematch under the UFC banner. He took on Marlon 'Chito' Vera, who handed him his first-ever loss as a professional. The pair had a memorable rematch at UFC 299, where 'Sugar' authored one of his finest performances.

Despite not finishing 'Chito,' he handed him a lopsided beating that left the Ecuadorian contender battered and bruised, looking almost unrecognizable. Vera is notable for first beating O'Malley under bizarre circumstances, injuring the latter's leg with a calf kick and TKO'ing him with ground-and-pound.

O'Malley, though, has always refused to accept the loss, claiming that Vera was the beneficiary of nothing more than a fluke.

Sean O'Malley has reframed his loss to Merab Dvalishvili

When Sean O'Malley lost to Marlon Vera, he dismissed the loss and claimed to be mentally undefeated. Now, in the wake of a more convincing loss to Merab Dvalishvili, which cost him his UFC bantamweight title, 'Sugar' has resurrected his usual excuses, claiming to have not lost to Dvalishvili at all.

He appears to believe he won three of the five rounds and even filmed a brief clip of himself parading around a practice octagon with his championship belt. He has since crowned himself the division's champion, despite having lost the title.
