UFC Vegas 93 takes place this weekend. The event will feature 13 fights across seven weight classes. Although it lacks high-profile names, there are several highly touted prospects and rising contenders who will attempt to take another step in their respective journeys to achieve greatness.

In the main event, No.5-ranked UFC flyweight contender Alex Perez will take on No.13-ranked Tatsuro Taira in a high-risk, low-reward matchup.

Despite being a well-rounded fighter, Perez was in a tough spot professionally after suffering three straight losses against Deiveson Figueiredo, Alexandre Pantoja and Muhammad Mokaev. He bounced back with a highlight reel KO win over Matheus Nicolau in April and will look forward to securing his second straight win against Taira.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Taira has made a huge splash in a short time. The undefeated fighter is 5-0 in the UFC, with his most recent win coming against Carlos Hernandez in December 2023. He has been aiming to take a step up in competition since the win, calling out the likes of Mokaev. The Japanese fighter is perceived as the UFC's next big star from the East and has been praised for his lethal combination of striking and submission ability.

In the co-headlining bout, middleweight contender Ikram Aliskerov will attempt to score his fourth victory under the UFC umbrella as he takes on promotional newcomer Antonio Trocoli in a short-notice fight. Aliskerov was originally scheduled to fight Andre Muniz. However, the Brazilian had to pull out of the fight due to an injury and was replaced by Trocoli.

For the uninitiated, Aliskerov's only professional MMA loss came against Khamzat Chimaev before their UFC tenures started. A potential rematch between them has been a major talking point since the Dagestani fighter arrived in the UFC in 2022, as the fight was a closely contested affair until the knockout punch from Chimaev closed the show.

While the star power after the co-main event takes a major dip, the fight card has many exciting matchups to offer.
