Dana White has become a hot topic of controversy after a video of his physical altercation with his wife went viral on social media. UFC middleweight contender Derek Brunson couldn't help but make light of the situation, although he seemingly restrained himself from making a meme out of it.

White and his wife Anne were seen exchanging slaps at a bar in Mexico on New Year's Eve.

Brunson, who actively posts memes on Twitter, seemingly thought the better of doing so on this occasion. The perennial middleweight contender claimed to be scared of losing his job but also offered to share his meme if fans set up a crowdfunding page for him. Most likely referring to the recent fiasco involving Dana White, Brunson wrote:

"If I post my meme I’m getting fired😂😂😂 start me a gofundme and I’ll do it"

In a video released by TMZ on Monday, White was seen leaning over to say something to his wife, who was holding her face in her hands. Anne White responded by slapping her husband, who immediately returned the slap before their friends stepped in.

Dana White's wife claims it was extremely uncharacteristic of the UFC president

Dana White and his wife have been married for 26 years now. While White's mother, June, has accused him of cheating on multiple occasions, no problems in the UFC boss' marriage have been made public so far.

Both White and his wife issued apologies for their public altercation on New Year's Eve. The duo admitted to being heavily intoxicated ahead of the altercation, although the UFC president noted that it was no excuse to lay hands on a woman.

However, Anne White claimed that it was highly uncharacteristic of her husband. In a statement to TMZ, she said:

"Dana and I have been married for almost 30 years. To say this is out of character for him is an understatement -- nothing like this has ever happened before. Unfortunately, we were both drinking too much on New Year’s Eve and things got out of control, on both sides. We’ve talked this through as a family and apologized to each other. I just hope people will respect our privacy for the sake of our kids."
