Top Rank president talks potential Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight after 'AJ's' recent defeat: "These two guys have such big followings" 

The highly anticipated clash between heavyweight boxing titans Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua remains uncertain following Joshua's shocking knockout loss to Daniel Dubois. Despite the setback, Top Rank president Todd DuBoef believes that a Fury-Joshua fight still appeals immensely to fans.

In an interview with Sky Sports, DuBoef drew parallels between a potential Fury-Joshua matchup and the historic Mayweather-Pacquiao bout, one of the biggest fights in sports history despite both fighters not being at their peak.

DuBoef said:

“These two guys have such big followings. and they've created an incredible reputation over the last decade and a half, and the fans here are very passionate about both of them. I was a part of a fight that I will say both guys definitively were not at their peak, but it was the biggest fight in the history of sports. That was Manny Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. They definitely were not at their peak… But it was big..”

Eddie Hearn weighs in on the possibility of Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has suggested that a bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury could take place in 2025 despite Joshua's recent loss to Daniel Dubois.

Hearn believes that the outcome of the upcoming fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Fury will be crucial in determining whether a Joshua-Fury bout will happen. If Fury loses to Usyk, Hearn suggests setting up a fight between Joshua and Fury. If Fury wins, a voluntary defense against Joshua for the unified heavyweight championship could be possible.

While Joshua might be keen on a rematch with Dubois, Hearn believes a fight with Fury would be more lucrative and exciting. He emphasized that Joshua remains a massive star in British boxing and that a super-fight with Fury would be the biggest spectacle in the division.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:

"If AJ is looking at a couple of big fights in 2025, and there is an opportunity to still fight Tyson Fury - because it's still the biggest fight in the division by a mile - I think that's something we should look at as well... Even in defeat, he's still the biggest star in Britain with Tyson Fury, and possibly around the world. He doesn't want to lose, but as we close the chapters to his career he'll be looking for the biggest fights."
