Former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson isn't ready to hang up both of his gloves just yet. In his last bout, a first-round submission loss to Michael Chiesa last August, 'El Cucuy' put down just one of his gloves on the floor as a symbolic gesture that he's not quite sure if he's done yet or not.

During an appearance on former UFC flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson's vlog, Ferguson was asked by the recently-retired 'Mighty Mouse' if he'll fight again.

'El Cucuy' replied:

"Yeah, I only put half-a-glove in there and I got it back so that tells me I got both pairs [of gloves] so yep, we're going to probably take the rest of this season and figure things out and we're coming back hard - either January or February. So stay tuned."

Tony Ferguson on retirement rumors: "I'm too old to retire"

In the video, Ferguson elaborated further on why he is not retiring yet. He also let us in on what he thinks he should do differently in his next fight. As per usual 'El Cucuy' content, the enigmatic former champion had an interesting insight (1:26):

"Not retired full like DJ [Johnson]. No, I'm not retiring. I'm too old to retire. I'm 40-years-old. I'm half-way to 80. I've been competing since I was 5 years-old in multiple sports. I've wrestled in college. I've done all the other stuff and you know what, it's not like I don't know anything else. I'm still able to compete. When somebody can run a sprint faster than me then maybe I'll start to consider it."

Ferguson continued:

"What [my career] really needs sis to find that coaching and that discipline around other people and being uncomfortable in practice so that way, you're not miserable in the fight. So it's being miserable in practice and being comfortable in the fight."

Ferguson then revealed that he has plans to contact Georges St-Pierre's coach, Firaz Zahabi, to work with him. If and when this union happens, we say that Ferguson has a very high chance of snapping his historic eight-fight losing streak.
