Tom Aspinall has recently taken another jab at Jon Jones by claiming that Jones is opting for the easy route by facing Stipe Miocic in a potential fight. Additionally, Aspinall revealed that all of his digs at Jones are intended to get under the UFC double champion's nerves.

Aspinall recently defeated Curtis Blaydes via first-round knockout at UFC 304. The British fighter's outstanding performance reinforced his position as one of the world's top heavyweight MMA fighters, hence escalating calls for a title unification fight against Jones.

Though Aspinall has called out Jones on multiple occasions, it is expected that the reigning UFC heavyweight champion will square off against Miocic at UFC 309 later this year.

Even though Jones ruled out Aspinall as his next opponent, the latter has persisted in taunting the UFC legend, this time for his prior use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs).

In a recent episode of Aspinall's Fight Lab on TNT Sports, the 31-year-old bashed Jones for fighting Miocic and stated his reason behind going after 'Bones'.

''He [Jones] wants the easy fight, Stipe [Miocic], for now, But I have the faith. Jon’s getting a bit ticked off with me at the minute, which is my intention. I’m trying to test his ego to see if he could be like ‘Actually, I’m the man at heavyweight, I’m gonna show you...So that’s what I’m working on at the moment. It seems that Jon is getting a little bit fuming with me so that’ll be nice if he continues that. He might be trolling everybody, who knows?”

UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier also gave his take on Aspinall taking shots at Jones. Cormier thinks Jones may be starting to become irritated with the interim champion's recent remarks about him.

Tom Aspinall provides an update on his octagon return

Following Tom Aspinall's win over Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304, UFC CEO Dana White announced that Aspinall might serve as backup for Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic fight which is expected to take place in November.

In the aforementioned episode of Aspinall's fight lab on TNT Sports, the interim champion shared details on his return, saying:

''I just want my chance to fight for the undisputed title. Of course, that’s the next natural progression [from interim] and also, it’s a dream fight for me so obviously I’m going to push for it. We’re still waiting and still training with that in mind; as far as I am concerned, I am training to fight potentially in November so no matter what happens, I’ll be fit and ready to go in November.''
