Since losing to Jon Jones at UFC 285, Ciryl Gane has quickly fallen out of favor with fans. With the landscape of the heavyweight division changing around him, fans have grown frustrated with the former interim champion's lack of activity and seeming refusal to fight Tom Aspinall.

In a recent interview with CANAL+ Sport, Gane claimed that he will be back in the Octagon in September to face an unnamed opponent at UFC Paris. Coincidentally, 'Bon Gamin' has not fought since the 2023 edition of UFC Paris, beating Serghei Spivac by TKO.

Despite the positive fight news, criticism of Gane only grew over his sentiment that he would fight "anyone" given that he has sat out for almost a year allegedly filming a movie.

One fan epitomized the fighter's perception of most by commenting that "all of the hype is gone" surrounding Gane as a fighter.

The fan commented:

"Gane is slowly becoming the Colby Covington of the HW division. All of the hype is gone."

Others commented:

"Blud thinks he'll get another title shot from Paris"
"Lost all his aura"
"The only requirement: being over 35% body fat"

Will Ciryl Gane fight on UFC Paris?

In the last 24 months, Ciryl Gane has only fought three times, two being in Paris as the main event. The former champion's two headlining events in France mark the only two times he has fought in his home country in his career.

Gane is 2-0 in those two fights with knockout wins over Tai Tuivasa and Serghei Spivac. The wins sandwiched a first-round submission loss to Jon Jones at UFC 285 for the vacant heavyweight title.

With multiple successful events in Paris over the past few years, the UFC has already announced their return to the city in September. The promotion has already announced that the event will be headlined by French lightweight Benoit Saint-Denis taking on fan favorite Renato Moicano.

As of July 11, Gane is not on the fight card, though only seven fights are currently confirmed on Tapology. Should 'Bon Gamin' make it to the event, he will likely not headline the card as he has done the past two years.
