Eddie Hearn believes if Devin Haney wins his lawsuit against Ryan Garcia, it will deter fighters from taking PEDs in the future. Suffice it to say 'KingRy' didn't take too kindly to the Matchroom Boxing chairman's assessment.
Last Friday, Haney filed a lawsuit against Garcia for battery, fraud, and breach of contract in connection with 'KingRy' testing positive for PEDs after their fight. Referencing the lawsuit in an interview with The Stomping Ground, Hearn said:
"If Haney wins this case, I think it's going to really deter fighters more... from taking PEDs. When Ryan gets a year [ban], no problem, few months off then you're back in camp. But if you lose tens of millions of dollars, it just puts a little different spin on it."

Garcia and his team have always maintained that he never intentionally abused PEDs and faulted tainted supplements as the cause of the failed drug tests. So naturally, the boxer was not too thrilled with the boxing promoter's analysis.
In a recent post on X, 'KingRy' clapped back at Hearn with an indirect dig at his fighter Anthony Joshua's recent loss:
"Every expert understands I never took PEDs knowingly. It seems like you and Haney underestimated me so badly that you can't wrap your head around the fight and neither can the Haneys. And now look what has happened. It seems like you both can't catch a win."
Ryan Garcia believes Devin Haney's lawsuit will work in his favor
It looks like Ryan Garcia is not concerned by the lawsuit Devin Haney has filed against him. If anything, 'KingRy' believes the case is finally going to let him prove his innocence.
Addressing the issue in a recent X Spaces session, the 26-year-old once again claimed that he never took PEDs intentionally, while elaborating on how the lawsuit will work in his favor:
"The good thing is I can finally prove I never took this intentionally. So at the end of the day, it's going to work towards my favor, because I never took this intentionally. So I'm actually going to get approved my innocence. So really, he is going to take two Ls. One in the courtroom and one in the ring. So I'm not really worried about it."
