Ryan Garcia has come to the defense of American singer Lizzo after theories emerged that she began going to the gym after being cyber-bullied. The artist has been a vocal advocate for the 'body positivity' movement, with her influence so great that she has been labeled as its 'poster girl'.

But recent footage of her weight-loss, which appears to be partially as a result of a more consistent exercise routine, has led to her being criticized online for being bullied into exercising.

'KingRy' came across one such post online, and reacted with the following:

"You can't hate on this, if you do then you are a weirdo. Let her get her body straight. People are WEIRD nowadays."

Garcia himself has been at the center of several controversies in 2024, including his drug-test failure in the aftermath of his victory over Devin Haney in April. His own dealings with public criticism over recent months may have given the pugilist a more empathetic edge towards Lizzo's current situation.

Taking a look at Ryan Garcia's chaotic 2024

Ryan Garcia has been one of the biggest names in boxing for several years, with the talented pugilist being likened to former superstar Oscar De La Hoya as the second-coming of 'The Golden Boy'.

'KingRy' is known for his blistering punching speed, with his patented left-hook having gained an potent reputation as his deadliest weapon.

Following his first career defeat against Gervonta Davis in April 2023, he bounced back with a victory against Oscar Duarte in December. Thereafter, Garcia was scheduled to face Devin Haney on April 20, 2024.

The pair were originally set to clash for Haney's WBC super lightweight world title, but the title challenger missed weight, meaning the belt was no longer on the line.

The 26-year old's online activity also caused much concern among fans and pundits ahead of the fight, with 'KingRy' making several alarming accusations.

But Garcia's performance against Haney stunned those who watched, as he dominated the WBC champion for most of the 12-round clash, dropping him several times.

But his wild pre-fight antics were matched with his post-fight controversies, as he failed a drug test taken several days before the bout, testing positive for ostarine. He was suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC), and will be allowed to return in April 2025.

Furthermore, his racist rant online saw him expelled by the WBC, and his future with the sanctioning body is unclear.
