Paulo Costa weighs in on Conor McGregor’s vision as Ireland’s potential president

After Conor McGregor declared that he would run for Irish president in 2025, many did not know what to make of the announcement. As usual, Paulo Costa gave his take on the situation with his own twist.

'Borrachinha' found a post claiming that McGregor would "carry out mass deportations" in 2025. Costa replied to the post with the common Arabic Muslim phrase translating to "if God wills it."

Costa tweeted:

Costa has never directly stated that he had ever converted to Islam but often tweets similar messages supporting Muslims.

While most of his social media posts are in the satirical comedy category, the middleweight occasionally mixes in his genuine political opinions.

Conor McGregor claims to be running for president of Ireland

Conor McGregor has always been critical of the current Irish government on social media but shocked everyone by declaring that he would be running for president in 2025 with a tweet on Sept. 5.

In his tweet, McGregor called himself the "only logical choice" to succeed President Michael D. Higgins.

Many, including Ben Askren and Chris Curtis, doubted McGregor's sincerity, but 'The Notorious' continues to tweet his hypothetical intentions as president. The 35-year-old is still a member of the active UFC roster and recently became a co-owner of the BKFC.

As a businessman, McGregor owns several alcoholic-related companies, including the Black Forge Inn, Forged Irish Stout, and Proper No. Twelve. He also started athletic brands — McGregor Sports and Entertainment and McGregor Fast — after his rise to UFC stardom.

On top of his already packed schedule, McGregor's lack of previous political experience gives people reason for pause on his potential presidential campaign. Nonetheless, his ambition has drawn many supporters.
