Paulo Costa recently shared a one word reaction after livestreaming star IShowSpeed appeared to beat Alex Pereira's score on the UFC's punching machine.

The punching machine has been something of a hot topic over recent months, with many UFC stars trying to one up the other to have the strongest punch recorded in the promotion. The record was held by Francis Ngannou during his UFC heavyweight title reign, where he scored a 942/1000. His record was then beaten by Tom Aspinall last year, with the interim champ scoring a seriously impressive 943.

'Speed' and 'Poatan' then tried their hand on the punching machine at a UFC fan expo this weekend, which was also attended by Dana White. The machine was set up for fans and celebrities attending to have a crack, with the Brazilian stepping up first. Firing with his right-hand, Pereira scored a 907.

IShowSpeed then stepped up moments later, where to his and the surrounding crowd's surprise, he scored 921 after throwing his punch.

After the results of the machine appeared to suggest 'Speed' has a more punching power than Pereira, Paulo Costa soon weighed in and played down it's significance.

The middleweight contender took to X and wrote a one-word reaction in response, suggesting to fans the scores shouldn't be taken seriously. He tweeted:

"lol"

Paulo Costa names Khamzat Chimaev as ideal next opponent

Paulo Costa has called for his next bout to be against Khamzat Chimaev, with the Brazilian believing a clash against 'Borz' will help him rediscover his peak.

'Borrachinha' is in the midst of a slump in form in the octagon that has seen him go 1-4 in his last five appearances. He is also currently on a two-fight skid, which has in part been put down to a mix of inactivity and injury.

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Costa then addressed his recent performances and outlined how he believes he can get back to his best. According to the former middleweight title challenger, a clash against Chimaev is just what he needs. He said:

"I think he [Chimaev] is the perfect kind of fighter to bring back the old Paulo. To bring back the [aggressiveness], to bring back the ferocity. I'm [looking] for that. And bro, you can see on my face, I can't wait, bring back this because I need the redemption...I need that fight and Chimaev is the perfect guy. I think he looks a little crazy, so this ought to be a very fun fight."
