Movsar Evloev and Aljamain Sterling will no longer be fighting each other on pay-per-view this October with the former offering his thoughts on that situation. Sterling announced today that he had sustained an injury while sparring to the scale that he will not be able to compete in his scheduled fight versus Evloev on Oct. 5 at UFC 307.

While the former UFC bantamweight champion mentioned how the injury would not require surgery and that Sterling hopes this bout can be re-booked ASAP, this still leaves Evloev without his contracted assignment. It seems like the number six ranked featherweight wants to maintain his spot in the event though.

Addressing the situation on X, Evloev said:

"I see Aljamain announced on his YouTube channel that he is out of the fight. I've been training for four months and would like to stay on this card and fight anybody, I'm not sure if the UFC can find someone to fight me but I worked really hard for this fight."

Movsar Evloev and what remains on the UFC 307 main card

Movsar Evloev looks to remain on the UFC 307 main card despite his opponent Aljamain Sterling dropping out. Even if the promotion cannot book him a replacement, there's still a lot for MMA fans to look forward to with this card in the coming weeks.

Alex Pereira headlines a UFC PPV offering once again as he defends his light heavyweight title against Khalil Rountree. In the co-main event of the card, Raquel Pennington will defend her bantamweight belt against former champion Julianna Pena in the latter's return to the octagon.

Jose Aldo and Mario Bautista will collide in a consequential contest at bantamweight. Aldo vs. Bautista will see the no. 10 and no. 11 ranked contenders at 135 pounds faceoff with one another. Kayla Harrison and Ketlen Viera will test their skills in an intriguing bantamweight matchup where the winner could potentially face the victor of Pennington vs Pena next.

Also, Roman Dolidze and Kevin Holland will get locked into the cage for a middleweight matchup with the no. 10 ranked contender taking on the no. 15 ranked 185-pound fighter in the promotion. So while it is unfortunate that Sterling is out, UFC 307 still has a lot to showcase.
