Michael Chandler is unbothered by being the underdog against Dustin Poirier in their upcoming UFC 281 clash.

Chandler has been the underdog in every single fight he's had in the UFC, with the exception of his most recent one against Tony Ferguson. With that in mind, 'Iron' revealed that he won't let the odds get to his mind.

Chandler opened as a +130 underdog, leaving Poirier as the -150 favorite. Asked how he feels about the betting odds for UFC 281, the former lightweight title challenger told SuperBook Sports:

"I don't mind being the underdog. Truthfully, you know, I've been the underdog in essentially every single one of my fights. Even in the last one, I believe I wasn't the underdog against Tony Ferguson, but you see it all over the media, they do these Instagram polls – I know you can't go judge everything by Instagram polls – but it's funny. I get tagged on these Instagram polls and I click on it and like it'll be like 92% Poirier and 8% Chandler. I'm like, 'alright.'"

Chandler added that he understands that a fighter with a longer UFC tenure like Poirier is inevitably going to get the nod from oddsmakers. That being said, though, he claimed that he likes his chances against 'The Diamond':

"All of them have me as the guy who's got a 27% chance of winning so I kinda embraced it. You know you gotta realize too that the guy who's been seen more and has a longer track record in the organization is always gonna get the nod when it comes to the odds most of the time. Poirier has just been a top guy forever so I don't let it get to me. He's a guy with two arms and two legs in my weight [class]."

Michael Chandler reveals strategy against Dustin Poirier at UFC 281

Michael Chandler’s revealed that he'd be more cautious against Dustin Poirier compared to some of his previous fights.

Chandler, who prides himself on being the most exciting fighter to watch in the UFC, has paid the price of his chaotic fighting style with a couple of losses. With that in mind, the No.5-ranked UFC lightweight revealed that he's intending to slow the pace down against Poirier:

"I love what I do and I do think the way that I fight works out better more often than not... There’s times that I want to take my foot off the gas, be a little bit more of a veteran, and I think you might see that in this fight. Don’t hold me to it, but we’ll see what happens."
