Former BMF champion Jorge Masvidal is set to return to mixed martial arts (MMA) after a brief retirement and a recent boxing loss to Nate Diaz. The 39-year-old welterweight veteran announced his retirement from the sport in April of 2023 after he suffered a defeat at the hands of Gilbert Burns.

Despite a string of four consecutive losses in the UFC, Masvidal remains confident in his abilities and believes that a championship run is still possible. He recently completed training at American Top Team and is targeting a return to the octagon by the end of this year or early next year.

Speaking to Grind City Media, 'Gambred' said:

“There ain’t sh*t in the world like MMA. I just finished up training at American Top Team (ATT) right now and it’s just the funnest thing I’ve ever done in my life. A lot of nights, I went to sleep just missing it, just doing certain training or certain workouts. I f*cking love it, man.

He continued:

“Definitely 100 percent back to MMA [next], I don’t know when I’m fighting but I’m fighting at either the end of this year or next year.”[H/t: MMA Mania]

Following the news of his return, Chael Sonnen responded to the announcement with a sarcastic post:

"I see you have conceited. You clearly want my forgiveness and I will take it under consideration."

Jorge Masvidal shares his take on the highly anticipated Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight

Jorge Masvidal believes that Conor McGregor may never return to the Octagon and that Michael Chandler should consider fighting him instead.

McGregor has been out of action for over three years due to a leg injury sustained in his fight against Dustin Poirier. Despite the Irishman expressing interest in returning in December, Masvidal remains skeptical about McGregor's intentions.

In a recent interview, Masvidal suggested that Chandler could use the opportunity to fight him and gain some momentum. 'Gambred' said:

"My take on this I can shoot right, I can knock Chandler's a** out. Knock him down dead on the mat, grab that microphone, call out [Conor McGregor]. But he don't never fight me, so why even waste time. He won't even fight Chandler bro. I don't think he's ever going to fight you know... but Chandler just going to sit around waiting and stuff. I mean we can fight, I can knock you out and then you can still wait for Conor"
