Jon Anik and Kamaru Usman recently debated Conor McGregor and Colby Covington pushing the boundaries with their trash talk and whether they believe a line is crossed. The duo have had personal interactions with both competitors and believe that there is something unique about their respective approach.

During the latest episode of his Pound 4 Pound podcast featuring the UFC commentator, Usman shared his thoughts on McGregor and Covington's trash talk. Usman mentioned that they have different styles that are effective but questioned when it goes too far:

"You have to give props where props is due. Conor [McGregor], you don't ask for the gifts that God gives you. Right in the perfect place to have the accent to where you also can fight...Someone just witty enough to be able to just run it off like that, that's special. But you have guys now like Colby Covington, which works for him. It is what it is, no shade to that. But that fine line, where's that fine line of is this distasteful?"

Anik chimed in and mentioned that he has had his fair share of interactions with 'Chaos' due to him disagreeing with his opinions on the broadcasts. However, he added that he respects Covington and is able to separate the person from the character he portrays:

"Colby Covington is an interesting case for me because he and I have had public back-and-forth. Colby Covington takes issue with something with me and calls out my children, right? He's just playing a character. It has worked for him to whatever degree...I have a lot of respect for him as a fighter and human being, but I think for Colby that's a question that he's gonna have to answer."

Jon Anik tells Kamaru Usman that Colby Covington's character could affect his post-career life

In addition to sharing his opinion on whether there is a fine line with Conor McGregor and Colby Covington's trash talking, Jon Anik told Kamaru Usman that he believes 'Chaos' character could affect his life when his career is over.

During the aforementioned clip, Anik mentioned that Covington leaning into a villain role could possibly tarnish his reputation on a personal level. He said:

"I think he did sell his soul a little bit and I think unlike Henry [Cejudo], it's gonna affect his life in ways that maybe be inconvenient thereafter."
