UFC commentator Joe Rogan had journalist Canadian journalist Shane Smith on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. At one point during the episode, the two individuals discussed how news is perceived by the public, and spoke in detail about Donald Trump and his public image.

Rogan weighed in on the topic, claiming that public perception is something that can easily be manipulated. Citing the case of former U.S president Donald Trump, he claimed that the general public is highly gullible. Rogan said:

"If you wanted to start a cult, you could probably do a really good job. You'll probably have a lot of people in your cult. Pretty easy to do it. Right, why? Because a lot of people are gullible and they're stupid. it's easy to get people to do things. it's easy to get people mad. It's easy to get people that think that Donald Trump is Hitler and it's easy to get people to think Donald Trump is Jesus. It's like, there's a lot of opinions out there and that's fine. That's part of the fun of life."
