Jamahal Hill recently spoke about a humourous interaction with Zhang Weili where the UFC strawweight champion seemed to think that Hill was another UFC light heavyweight.
Hill was speaking with former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling on his YouTube channel for his show FunkMaster MMA. One of the topics the combatants delved into was how they saw the Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree title fight playing out.
As the two were unable to recall the name of Pereira's debut opponent in the UFC, Sterling, and Hill got into discussing instances of people mistaking them for other fighters. Sterling quipped about how some people have mistaken him for Kevin Holland to which Hill responded:
"So [Zhang] Weili at the Contender Series last week, you were there you saw it. Weili comes up 'next month, let's go'. I'm like what? She's like 'oh you fight title'. I was like oh she thinks I'm Khalil [Rountree]. She thought I was Khalil."
"I'm like my man's has no hair, he's got facial hair, you know what I'm saying? He's a lot shorter than I am. I don't know, that was funny though. But you know she's sweet, bro. She don't mean anything by it. So it was all good."

Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree's connections in the UFC
Although the UFC's 115-pound queen confused them, Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree have several tendrils that do connect each other through their respective UFC journies. The two mixed martial artists were supposed to fight each other earlier this year but alas that planned June booking did not pan out.
The planned UFC 303 fight fell out after news of a banned substance being consumed by Khalil Rountree left Hill without a Summer dance partner. Now Rountree is booked in the aforementioned title fight versus Pereira at UFC 307 on Oct. 5.
Both of the 205-pound fighters also have had mutual opponents in the UFC cage in the form of Paul Craig and Johnny Walker. Rountree's fights against those individuals saw him finish Craig with strikes in the first round and he was finished by Walker with strikes inside the opening stanza of their fight.
Conversely, Hill suffered his first-ever MMA loss to Craig after sustaining an arm injury, and 'Sweet Dreams' would then finish Walker by knocking him out less than three minutes into their bout.
