In the caption of the post, Nurmagomedov asked people to stay connected to their roots.

"Trip to the mountains... Do not forget your roots."

During his active days in the UFC, Nurmagomedov used to be a dominant force in the promotion's lightweight division. The Dagestani entered the UFC in January 2012 with a 16-0 record.

During his stint in the multi-billion dollar promotion, Nurmagomedov was a part of 13 fights and got his hand raised in all of them. This run included defeating the likes of Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, Al Iaquinta, Edson Barboza and Rafael dos Anjos.

'The Eagle' also captured the UFC lightweight belt and successfully defended it three times. His last outing took place in October 2020 when he locked horns against Gaethje at UFC 254. Nurmagomedov made light work of his opponent and submitted him in the second round of the fight.

After the fight, the 36-year-old announced his retirement from the sport of MMA.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was recently seen at a Bellator event

Khabib Nurmagomedov's cousin Usman Nurmagomedov recently headlined the Bellator Champions Series 4 event which took place on Sept. 7 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

He took on Alexandr Shabliy in a lightweight title bout that night. 'The Eagle' was a part of Nurmagomedov's corner and was seen giving animated reactions during the fight.

The 26-year-old put on a dominant performance and won the fight via unanimous decision.

After the event, the former UFC champion did an interview backstage where he showered praise on his cousin.

"Usman did an amazing job versus a very good and experienced opponent. He showed the world why he is one of the best in the world. He just turned 26, I really believe he's gonna have a great future. He already made history, winning and defending his title three times. But can you imagine after five or six years, [if] this guy stays focused, he can put his name as one of the greatest, atop the list. This is what I believe."
