UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones seems determined to block out the noise of fan consensus that he should be fighting interim champion Tom Aspinall next. He has demonstrated an unwavering focus in securing a fight against two-time heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic next.

Most recently, Jones posted a video on Instagram stories studying footage from Miocic's fight, while fans maintain their apparent unified stance that Aspinall should be next in line. Some fans have even urged Miocic to pull out of the fight and pave the way for the undisputed championship matchup.

"As much as I love you, you're not as important as my goals to me right now"

Jon Jones weighs in on whether he could beat Tom Aspinall

Interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has been rallying for a potential fight against Jon Jones to challenge for the undisputed throne. The UK heavyweight sensation has rattled off three straight KO/ TKO wins and defended the interim throne recently against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304.

Meanwhile, Jones hasn't competed since he beat Ciryl Gane in March 2023 to secure the heavyweight championship. He's chasing a fight against Stipe Miocic, who hasn't competed since he dropped the heavyweight title to Francis Ngannou in March 2021.

Miocic's inactivity coupled with Aspinall's blistering rise in the division has led some fans to hurl accusations at Jones that he's avoiding a fight against the young heavyweight fighter. Jones recently replied to a fan questioning him on X whether he could beat Aspinall. He replied:

"Bro, absolutely. I’m getting close to being in fight shape and I’m weighing in at 245 now. He probably cuts weight to get down to heavyweight. The night we fought he would probably weigh a solid 25 pounds more than me, seven years younger, and I would still whip his ass like I’ve done everyone else. You guys can go ahead and believe the hype, I’ll keep doing what I’ve always done, win."
