Strawweight MMA star 'Thunder Kid' Lito Adiwang of the Philippines empathizes with former adversary 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks.
Brooks ran into some bad luck earlier this year, when he lost his ONE strawweight MMA world title to Filipino archrival 'The Passion' Joshua Pacio at ONE 166: Qatar.
'The Monkey God' spiked Pacio on his head illegally, which led to a disqualification defeat early in the match.
Adiwang watched from the sidelines as his former Team Lakay stablemate Pacio was stretchered out of the Lusail Sports Arena in March while being crowned the new champion.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Adiwang shared his thoughts on the Brooks-Pacio rivalry.
'Thunder Kid' said:
"I think Jarred has reason to be mad and claim that. I feel bad for both of them, really. I felt bad for Joshua for winning the way that he did and at the same time, and for Jarred as well. I know that he trained and worked hard to be in that position and with just one wrong move, he lost everything."
Needless to say, both Brooks and Pacio are willing to run it back when the latter returns to full health.
Brooks returned to action in August of 2024, defeating Gustavo 'El Gladiador' Balart to win the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title. On the flipside, Pacio is currently recovering from an ACL injury he suffered a few months ago.
