Caleb Plant got into a verbal altercation with an individual at a promotional press conference ahead of his highly-anticipated boxing match against Trevor McCumby. A heckler referred to Plant as a "b*m," to which the boxer dared him to say that to his face. Fans soon chimed in with their reactions to the incident.

Plant is set to fight McCumby for the interim WBA super middleweight (168-pound) championship. Their clash will take place on the card headlined by combat sports megastar Canelo Alvarez's fight against the undefeated Edgar Berlanga Jr.

Alvarez defends his WBA (Super), WBC, WBO, and Ring Magazine super middleweight belts against Berlanga at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A., on Sept. 14, 2024. During a press conference interview onstage, Plant was asked about the Alvarez-Berlanga matchup, to which he said:

"I definitely see Canelo getting his hand raised."

Upon being labeled a "b*m" by a nearby heckler, Plant challenged him and stated:

"Say what? ... Come up here, and say that to my face ... Yeah. Come up here, and say that to my face. See how that works out. I'll show you what a b*m look like."

Fight fans weighed in, with many suggesting that Caleb Plant has previously shown that he's unafraid of getting into confrontations/fights outside the ring. A notable instance was when he confronted star boxer Ryan Garcia earlier this year. In response to the video captured by PBC, posted to X by Michael Benson, a fan tweeted:

"Caleb has proven, he will punch you in the face."

Another X user lambasted the heckler:

"Useless heckler"

Similarly, a netizen insinuated that the person feared a fight against Plant:

"Exactly. You wouldn't dare."

One observer alluded that the 22-2 Plant has only lost to top-notch boxers, namely the legendary Canelo Alvarez and the dangerous David Benavidez, which doesn't make him a b*m.

Alternatively, a commenter speculated that it'd have been hilarious if the heckler were a college wrestler who could've secured a takedown against Plant. Some fans joked that they'd have fought Plant, likely gotten hurt, and then sued him:

"I would then sue him for millions"

While one commenter claimed that the heckler tried to go onstage but was stopped by security, another fan tweeted:

"Fair play, guy in the crowd has no b*lls to actually get up and fight."

Caleb Plant calmly cuts through confrontation against Egyptian-American boxer

Ahmed Elbiali, an Egyptian-American pugilist, reportedly initiated a confrontation with Caleb Plant at the Terence Crawford-Israil Madrimov boxing event in Aug. 2024. Former sparring partners, Plant and Elbiali, were both in attendance for the show and almost came to blows.

In video footage later unraveled by Plant, it seemed like his supporters swarmed and prevented Elbiali from attacking 'Sweethands.'

Watch the brawl below:

Caleb Plant subsequently took to X and claimed that he'd asked Ahmed Elbiali to leave him alone. The 32-year-old acknowledged Elbiali's dislike for him, adding that 'The American Pharaoh' shouldn't have been attempting to invade his personal space.

In the brawl's aftermath, the consensus was that Elbiali would've been unlikely to secure a boxing match against the significantly higher-ranked Plant regardless.
