The contest was an exciting affair where both fighters had moments of success. In the end, Adesanya fell short as he was submitted by du Plessis in the fourth round of the fight.

The fight marked the first time Adesanya has lost two MMA fights in a row. It also marked the first time 'The Last Stylebender' suffered a defeat via submission in his entire MMA career.

Joe Rogan's comments on the Israel Adesanya vs. Dricus du Plessis fight

UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes that Israel Adesanya might have been been injured in the fight against Dricus du Plessis. Rogan recently hosted UFC welterweight king Belal Muhammad on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

On that episode of the podcast, Rogan said that Adesanya could have possibly been compromised in the UFC 305 headliner. He added that the injury could have also have occured during the fight against 'Stillknocks'. Rogan said:

"Well, they clashed shins a bunch of times. I mean, it [the injury] could have happened in the fight, but the problem is he was still tired. I mean, I'm sure he was injured. It's a crazy fight, you get injured."
