Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold's name was dragged into the mix when Jake Paul lauded rival Mike Perry's efforts in their recent boxing encounter. Whether Paul's comment was meant to stir the pot or not, it ignited a strong response from Rockhold.

Paul engaged in a thrilling boxing contest with Perry which culminated with 'The Problem Child' rattling off a TKO victory in the sixth round. Throughout the fight, Paul kept hurting and dropping Perry on multiple occasions. 'Platinum's' dogged spirit and unyielding toughness were acknowledged by everyone, including Paul.

However, he also touched upon the account of weight discrepancy translating into an advantage by harking back to Perry's BKFC 41 victory over Rockhold. He wrote:

"Mike Perry's heart is undeniable and he's a combat legend. He has dominated countless opponents with his fists, including UFC champion Luke Rockhold, who is the same size I am."

Rockhold reacted to Paul's comment on Instagram claiming that he will "put an end to this bullsh*t." He wrote:

"You should fight someone your own size for once, Jake. Anywhere, anytime! I lost 20lbs to fight Mike in his own game. You put on 40lbs to fight him in your world. Send the contract. Man up and fight someone your own weight, that’s not a senior citizen. I’ll put an end to your bullsh*t."

When Luke Rockhold claimed that he would beat Jake Paul in his sleep

Jake Paul has carved out a niche for himself in the boxing world by waging combat with UFC veterans significantly older than him. Moreover, there seems to be a discernible size difference between him and his opponents, which many fans have pointed out.

Paul's career trajectory has appealed to a lot of fans and his contribution to the sport is recognized by several counterparts. However, his approach may have rubbed many others the wrong way, including former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.

In a past interview with TMZ Sports, Rockhold challenged Paul to test himself against fighters in his weight class, stating:

"Stop trying to fight little dudes. Fu*king [155]-pounders. You're a middleweight. If you want to fight a middleweight, I got hands. We can do anything we want. I really don't care. I'd beat that guy in my sleep."
