NBA legend and four-time world champion LeBron James and his son Bronny just made history, so much so that even former UFC champions are ecstatic about it. In an unprecedented move, the LA Lakers - James' team since 2018 - drafted his 19-year-old son, Lebron Raymone 'Bronny' James Jr. This made them the first father-son tandem to play together in the long history of the NBA.

Lebron James posted about it on Instagram with the caption:

"LEGACY!!!!!! 🤴🏾🤴🏾"

Fans, the media, and fellow athletes are raving about this news. One such athlete is former UFC welterweight world champion Tyron 'The Chosen One' Woodley, who commented:

While it's still yet to be seen if this new father-and-son duo will produce championship rings in the future, its existence alone deserves immense recognition. For one, Lebron James had to be at the very top of his game, stay relevant, and rule the sport for 21 straight years for him to have the leverage to get his son to play with him on the same team. That alone is a remarkable achievement in and of itself.

UFC president Dana White has high praises for LeBron James and his work ethic

While MMA and basketball are opposites of the sporting spectrum, it doesn't mean their athletes and personalities can't respect one another. Back in 2021, UFC president Dana White himself sang high praises for LeBron James, admitting that he's "blown away" by the basketball icon's legendary work ethic.

White said in an interview with MMA Junkie:

“I’m always so blown away by LeBron James. If you look at LeBron James and how young he came into the NBA, and what he’s done, what he’s accomplished."

White continued:

"And no matter how much money he has made, he’s never in trouble, and he’s always trying to be better and always trying to win. You know, when you have that type of a mentality, like a LeBron James. Sky is the limit, man.”
