Devin Haney grabbed headlines when he announced that he would proceed with an extended break after his April 2024 loss against Ryan Garcia was overturned as a no-contest. Moreover, the claim was fortified as a possibility after Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing failed to place a bid at the purse bids for his WBC mandatory fight with Sandor Martin.

It came to light that Hearn and Matchroom, who promoted Haney's last two fights, did not make an offer for the Martin clash, allowing Top Rank to win the rights to the scrap as the lone bidders. 'The Dream' shared his frustration at the lack of bidding efforts from Matchroom and went on to claim that he will only return to boxing in two years to rematch Garcia after he's eligible to compete following the suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission. He wrote:

“I'ma take some time, spend some of my money, travel the world & I’ll be back in two years after Ryan [Garcia’s] suspension & we can fight again.”

However, Haney has sparked comeback talks with prominent Saudi Arabian adviser Turki Alalshikh according to their recent interaction on X. Haney dropped a series of X posts, writing:

"The game ain’t been the same... bout time I come back. I gave y'all 3 months."

Alalshikh responded by writing, "Deliver the job champ," indicating that they are seemingly waiting for his return in Riyadh. Haney responded by writing:

"I would say the comeback.. but I never left.. see you soon brother"

Devin Haney picks the winner in a potential Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford clash

Terence Crawford recently extended his undefeated run to 41-0 with a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Israil Madrimov at the BMO Stadium, in Los Angeles. With this win, Crawford laid hands on the WBA and vacant interim WBO light middleweight titles.

Boxing fans have been speculating on a potential clash between Canelo Alvarez and Crawford for the longest time. The talks of the matchup petered out when Turki Alalshikh confirmed that he would be dropping Alvarez from his plans for the 2024-2025 season.

That being said, Haney, who left mid-way through Crawford's clash against Madrimov, told FightHype on his way out that the American was winning the fight and picked 'Bud' to win in a fight against Alvarez. He said:

"Come on now, Crawford. Yeah [he’s winning clearly]. [Madrimov] is putting up a good fight, styles make fights though. It’s boxing. The weight is showing, but Crawford is Crawford."
