Conor McGregor voiced his interest in boxing KSI because of the latter's infamous newly-released song.

In August 2017, McGregor helped build one of the most financially successful boxing events of all time against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Since then, the former two-division UFC champion has continuously teased a return to "The Sweet Science" against various opponents, including a social media influencer named KSI.

KSI has utilized his platform to pursue several ventures, including businesses, combat sports, music, and social media content. The 31-year-old has recently received backlash for a song he released called "Thick of It," which many people claimed was awful.

Earlier this week, the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, co-owned by McGregor, held an event in Spain. During the fight week, 'The Notorious' was asked about potentially fighting KSI in a boxing match. He responded by saying:

"Let's go man. I'll fight him for that bullsh*t song he released alone. I'll fight him for that f*cking song alone."

KSI does have boxing experience, as he's been one of the primary superstars in the influencer scene. The content-creator-turned-fighter has competed eight times between amateur and professional bouts, including three knockouts against less experienced people from the crossover boxing world.

Conor McGregor's latest UFC return opponent rumors

Conor McGregor hasn't fought in three years, with his last octagon appearance against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. 'The Notorious' has since coached a season of 'The Ultimate Fighter' against Michael Chandler, who was supposed to be his opponent for his highly-anticipated UFC return.

McGregor vs. Chandler has fizzled out for several reasons. 'Iron' has finally moved on and accepted a fight against Charles Oliveira. Meanwhile, McGregor has claimed his next will be against number five-ranked Dan Hooker.

In a recent interaction with Bloody Elbow, McGregor updated on the timeline of their fight:

“February first, Saudi Arabia."

'Hangman' also voiced his interest in the matchup, claiming they need to get the UFC on board to finalize everything. Hooker is coming off three consecutive wins against Claudio Puelles, Jalin Turner, and Mateusz Gamrot.
