Before he could return to the ring, Devin Haney was seen in a recent fight on the street. Fans caught the WBC champion in recess and his group of friends engaging in a physical altercation with an unnamed individual at the Orange County State Fair in California.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Haney and his friends were seen arguing with an unnamed man before the boxer escalated the situation by throwing a punch. After his punch, Haney walked away from the action as his surrounding friends continued fighting with the man.

Fans were in splits reacting to the video, with some believing that the opposing man was at fault for attempting to start an argument with a former world champion boxer and a larger group of men.

One fan commented:

"Talk s*** get smacked"

Many others, however, felt that Haney was most at fault for throwing the first punch. Several fans also mocked Haney for walking away after throwing the punch.

One such fan wrote:

"Bro hit him and left"

Other fans commented:

"I think Arman Tsarukyan had a more devastating punch"
"Devin isn't beating the pillow hands allegations"
"Don't let @Ryangarcia see this"

Is Devin Haney still the WBC super lightweight champion?

As the former undisputed lightweight champion, Devin Haney moved up to the 140-pound division in December 2023, beating Regis Prograis for the WBC super lightweight title. Four months later, Haney would lose his following fight to Ryan Garcia but keep his belt due to 'King Ry' missing weight for the intended title bout.

However, just a month later the result would be overturned to a no-contest with Garcia testing positive for Ostarine. Haney then requested "champion in recess" status, effectively removing himself as the champion. The WBC granted Haney's wish and promoted Alberto Puello to full champion.

Many assume that Haney is waiting out Garcia's year-long suspension to align a lucrative rematch but his current plans are unknown. With the official no-contest ruling, Haney is still considered undefeated at 31-0.
