Aljamain Sterling vs Movsar Evloev is getting rescheduled for UFC 310 on December 7. Originally scheduled for UFC 307 in Salt Lake City next month, the bout was put in jeopardy after 'Funk Master' suffered an injury in training.

After a few days of waiting on whether the UFC will find a new opponent for Evloev or scrap the bout altogether, the promotion itself announced the new date on X:

"New date, same mission 😤 @MovsarUFC vs @FunkmasterMMA has been rescheduled to take place at #UFC310 👊"

This featherweight contest between the former UFC bantamweight champ and the surging Russian star joins a few more match-ups that have been linked to the December card.

A few that have been included in the mix (though not made official yet) are former interim UFC heavyweight champ Ciryl Gane rematching Alexander Volkov and the return of MMA legend Nick Diaz as he faces welterweight veteran Vicente Luque.

Another legend returns at the T-Mobile Arena that night will be Clay 'The Carpenter' Guida as he squares off against a man nearly 20 years his junior, Chase Hooper.

Aljamain Sterling explains how he got injured in training

To understand what may have caused Aljamain Sterling to pull out of his initial battle with Evloev, check out his interview snippet with SiriusXM Fight Nation, uploaded on his Instagram.

'Funk Master' explained that a Kimura attempt by his sparring partner caused a small tear on his arm.

The former UFC bantamweight champion said:

"It happened two weeks ago, September 5th, I was sparring. Half-way through the first round...and it's such a weird thing because normally the Kimura puts pressure on the shoulder. So I was more worried about my shoulder because obviously, once the arm goes behind your back, once it does that 90-degree angle, that's where the concern comes in."

Aljamain Sterling continued:

"I was able to straighten my arm back, and as I straightened it, I was trying to turn it over so I could get to a position where I could now sit on the double or control the biceps...But as I was turning it, a cross-friction caused a tear on my forearm. And it sounded like a new pair of gloves and you just take that velcro off, and [makes velcro sound]."
